Concert Memory

I was just reviewing your site and wanted to contribute something. My friends and I were at the concert on 9/22/70 where the recording of Deliverin’ took place. I was a college student in Maine and had called down to the  Music Hall to arrange an interview with The Moody Blues and Poco for our College radio station WWAS . In any event when we arrived there, we were told  we couldn’t get in, I guess they thought we were just trying to get in to see the concert for free….after all we were just students. At some point, we noticed the van carrying Poco pulling into the rear of the Hall. We bolted around the corner and saw Jim Messina standing out the back side of the van. Somehow in a few seconds I explained that we were from Maine and had come to see the show and interview them and were denied access for no apparent reason. Well Jim was so great, he simply said..each of you grab a piece of equipment, you’re with the band!…so we marched in behind the players and to the shock of the Music hall people we just hung out  back stage with them until showtime. I watched the entire concert backstage writing, recording, and doing  interviews (also interviewed the Moody Blues) and taking photos. Have no idea where those are  now… my friends watched the show from front row seats…In fact, the  cover photo of the album “Deliverin” features 4 of them including the top of my future wife’s head. I never even noticed that photo until about three years later. LOL. The concert was  terrific. Poco had more fun on stage than any band ive ever seen. Their performance was awesome. Despite the fact that the Moodys were also great, I’d say that POCO stole the show and I became a lifelong fan of the band and  the players individually. I have that memory and I wanted to share it.
