Concert Memory

The most memorable concerts I ever attended were the two shows at Wollman Rink, Schaefer Music Festival, Central Park in 1973. I was stationed in New York with the Coast Guard at that time. The first night was just amazing as a thunderstorm with a lot of lightning, rolled in during the show but Poco played on. After the show we somehow ended up back stage and met the all the guys. So friendly! Night two the skating rink seemed to have 3 inches of standing water from the previous night’s rain. Again Poco put on an incredible show! We were front stage right and when Rusty broke out the “Bear” he came over and seemed to play for just us. Soon everyone but poor George wandered over to stage right and played to this group of us! I’ve seen them many times since but these shows will always remain vivid in my mind.
