Concert Memory

I’ll never forget how excited I was when I heard Poco was coming to the Louisville Palace.  I didn’t become a fan until the Legend album, then a friend of mine played me the “Crazy Eyes” Lp and I was blown away. By the time I saw Poco that night I had their whole catalog of music and I was ready. I was able to get front row seats, which made it even better.

The night of the concert, Poco came on first and I thought they were terrific. During the song “Ghost Town”, I was happily singing along when Paul Cotton seemed to forget a line from the song and then he looked at me singing the words and then remembered the line. After the song, I thought he looked at me and mouthed the words “thank you”. Was it my imagination? Could be, but at any rate that’s how I remember it.   They didn’t play that long, which was a disappointment, but as soon as their set was over I left and when to the back of the venue and actually was able to meet Rusty Young. I told him I was a big fan. He was very gracious and even asked me my name.   That was the only time  I ever saw them. I’ll never forget it. I only wished I could have become a fan sooner and seen them in their early days.
