Concert Memory
Talked this past Sunday with Rusty Young at an outdoor Poco gig at a park in King of Prussia,PA ( outside Philadelphia) about those particular shows with Elton John at Glassboro State College in New Jersey and the disastrous University of Pennsylvania one (he didn’t remember, but I sure did). Seems the sound people at Philadelphia’s Palestra were not on their game that evening and after a few attempts at starting perhaps two separate songs, Jimmy Messina announced that they could no longer play with sound this poor. (Feedback was constant and the boys did their best to persevere, but to no avail…my chance to see this great band with Messina on guitar was gone in a screech of hums, crackles, and feedback! ) But as I mentioned to Paul Cotton this Sunday, he certainly filled the bill when I saw him on his first go around a couple of months later in New Jersey. Well, keep up the good work..Paul and Rusty sure are!
