Concert Memory
I was at the Poco concert at Pittsburgh’s Syria Mosque in August of 1973 — this was my first concert and was a gift from my brother before I went of to college the next week. The original opening acts were to be Ian Lloyd and Stories and Joe Walsh and Barnstorm. Both bands were absent due to illnesses. The substitute opening act was David Blue (who was accompanied by Don Felder). This was a great show. Sadly the Syria Mosque is no more being replaced by a parking lot for Pitt. Pity.

I was in the orchestra pit for the ’73 concert. Those were the days before merchandising. I had gotten a grey t shirt made with “Poco – Just A Little Bit of Magic” printed on the front. When the guys saw it, they pointed to me from the stage. The young lady who had accompanied me was at her very first concert. I scored a lot of points thanks to that t shirt.
