Concert Memory

Sometime early on in the show, Jack took off his fleece.  Rusty then said “That’s Jack Sundrud, our bassist.  That is one of the seven wardrobe changes Jack will be making tonight.  Not only that, but Jack will also be appearing on the cover of this month’s issue of People magazine naked and pregnant!  I bet the Eagles can’t say that.”

I also remember an audience member shouting out “early stuff!”  Paul grumbled “later on” Rusty replied, calmy, (this is not exact) “you know that if you’re asking for early stuff you’re not so young… We won’t be hearing that again.”  The audience laughed.  Then he said “Here’s an early one-” and went straight into ‘Good Feelin’ to Know.

Rusty started talking about Timothy B. Schmit, and how since he has been replaced by Jack “B.” Sundrud.  “It’s good, though, because we don’t have to pay Jack as much now.  Timmy’s left the Eagles and Jack is now waiting on a call from Don Henley. … Now we are going to do our favorite Timmy song- wait!  Let’s do Shake It!  [to the other guys] Can we do ‘Shake It?”  As he was about introduce ‘Keep on Tryin’,’ he was reminded of the Sundrud song ‘Shake It,’ most likely because he had just mentioned Sundrud’s name.  After ‘Shake It, Rusty said, “Now where was I before my mental lapse.  It’s cuz we’re getting old.  I used to be able to blame it on drugs- do you think Viagra counts? … Mary’s face is bright red right now.  Oh yeah- Timmy…”

I told Paul one of my favorites of his was Too Many Nights Too Long, and he replied “we’ll do it next time”.  Hopefully, he’ll remember and when in Peekskill in October, he’ll play it.
